And, congratulations on finding someone to spend the rest of your life with. What an exciting, joyful, and completely stressful time…wedding planning is no joke, right? Picking out which stranger is going to ensure your celebration is how you hoped it would be is tough. I totally get it. You have tons of options (especially for photographers) and I’m honored that you’re even considering me. I’d love the chance to earn your trust so before we even chat, I’m going to make you a few promises. And, then you can head on over to the A bit about me page so I’m a little less of a stranger.

I promise to focus on the wonderful connections and interactions that happen on the first day of your marriage.

One of the greatest joys of my job is witnessing the deep connection between two people & that perfect moment where everything else fades away. That magical Cali sunset is ideal for documenting the beautiful bond between my couples. The sun’s amber glow drapes over everything as the hustle of the day falls away and they are the only two people in the universe; bathed in softness and warmth.  For a few minutes, everything is calm, quiet & still and there’s just two people, deeply in love & moving further into their commitment. Then, everyone starts laughing because you can only be that sappy for so long. But, for those moments, that emotional connection is everything.

A wedding is the manifestation of connection - a weaving together of families and friends and communities. My focus is capturing all those fantastic and meaningful interactions to make them last forever for you. Because, they really are what life is all about.

I promise to bring all the skill & talent that I’ve developed over the last 15 years & hundreds of weddings to your wedding.

I promise to do all I can to make you comfortable in front of the camera.  I’ll pose you, prompt you, make you laugh, embarrass myself, whatever it takes to help you relax so you can look like yourself in your portraits.

 

I promise to continue my obsession with lighting.  I’ll use natural light when I can and add high-quality flash action when needed.  We’ve got a lot of gorgeous wine caves around here and those puppies are dark! You can trust that I’ll light up the room in a way that’s unobtrustive and delivers a beautiful exposure.

I promise to move quickly and to be on time!!  Seriously - being late gives me hives.  And, family portraits are no one’s favorite part of the day so when it’s my turn to direct and get things done, I don’t mess around.  There’s still plenty of time for quality imagery, and probably a few laughs, but no one will be standing around while I’m taking my sweet time.

 

I promise I’ve seen worse and came through on the other side with fantastic images.  Stuff happens, things run late, people get stressed. Being flexible and able to turn on a dime is key.  In the end, it all works out - there’s a joyful union and tons of wonderful memories immortalized in print.

I promise to never forget that this is your wedding and not a portrait or portfolio shoot for me.  There is no image so perfect that it’s worth ruining a part of your celebration. Whatever happens, I will get fantastic images.
