Giving Back

Little Troopers

When Mariah’s son was born, his perfect little feet turned all the way in. They thought he was just a bit crammed and needed to stretch out (he was 10.5 lbs, after all!). But, when they found out he had a condition that needed extensive treatment, their whole world stopped. They were fortunate though. Dylan only had clubfoot. A diagnosable, treatable condition that shouldn’t affect his later life.

Taking him to all his treatments opened Mariah’s eyes (and heart) to the Little Troopers and their families that are made to endure much more than they should. Every trip to the hospital showed her little faces full of joy…seemingly unaware of the difficulties their little body was dealing with. And, parents with the tell tale worry lines, sense of complete exhaustion and expression of pride as they watched their child overcoming their challenges.

Somewhere along the way, she decided that these families deserved some free stuff! She can’t smooth the rough road they’re on but she can give them portraits that celebrate the wonderful life that their child is living!

If you know a Little Trooper, please send an email letting Mariah know about their journey. Please also help her spread the word so deserving families can benefit.

Little Trooper sessions are completely free and include full resolution digital negatives. In most cases, families should live within 30 miles of Sebastopol but she can make special arrangements for travel, if necessary. She makes her self as available as possible, but can typically only schedule 1-2 sessions per month.

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

Mariah is honored to be chosen as a volunteer portrait photographer for this absolutely wonderful organization.

“The Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep organization is there for parents and families to help aid them in their healing, bring hope to their future, and to honor their child. It is through remembrance that a family can truly begin to heal”
