Looks like the Wine Spectator likes Brava’s as much as I do!

It’s always so fun to see my commercial photography in print!!

Tim Fish of the famous Wine Spectator describes Bravas Bar de Tapas as an “excellent new venue”!  That’s a recommendation to be proud of!  You can view more images of this delicious new restaurant HERE.

Bravas Bar de Tapas

Oh boy!  This was one of the most enjoyable shoots ever!  Not only was I surrounded by amazingly delicious smells, gorgeous eye-candy decor & a super excited wait staff in training (I love the energy during restaurant openings…blame it on my bartender history ;) .  But, I also got to sample some of my yummy subjects!  And, let me tell you – this place is good…really, really good!  Like, I can’t wait to get up there again, good.  I couldn’t get enough of their Mussel Escabeche with chili relish and I’m constantly craving the Monterey Calamari.  I’m definitely a small plates kind of girl and would just like 1 of everything, please!

Enjoy the images but try not to drool on your keyboard ;)

Bravas Bar de Tapas is located at 420 Center St in Healdsburg.  Get on up there!

Farm to Feast at Summerfield Waldorf School & Farm

If you’ve spent anytime with me, you’ve probably heard me mention Summerfield and Waldorf education (sorry if too much ;) .  I rarely climb on to a little soapbox but I’m so in love with this type of learning that I just can’t help myself.  My husband is probably the most intelligent person I know…not because he knows everything (although, he may beg to differ) but because his thirst for knowledge never gets quenched.  There’s a ribbon on his Christmas stocking that says “I Love to Learn” and Santa definitely pegged that one.  While I’m sure he was born with a bit of this passion, after visiting the school he grew up in (Summerfield), I instantly knew that it was responsible for most of his love of learning.  The children are shown how fun, interesting and rewarding education can be.  They’re taught how to think on their own on a timeline that matches their development.  They’re shown how to learn instead of what to learn.

This county is fortunate to be full of wonderful Waldorf schools and we’ve been lucky enough to send our little girl to Summerfield.  It’s been an amazing experience for her and since we’re a young family trying to make our way in this not so affordable county, their financial aid has been invaluable.  Because it’s important to them to keep their doors open to families of all income levels, events like Farm to Feast are an absolutely enjoyable necessity.

I’m always honored to photograph our events and this years Farm to Feast was no exception.  What an inspiring event!  Guests were treated to tastings of Sonoma and Napa counties best wines, including:  Coturri WineryClaypool CellarsMartinelli WineryDavis Family Vineyards, and many more!

Their feast was provided by Sonoma County’s award winning & amazing chefs:

Tracie Des Jardins of Jardiniere & Manzanita

Duskie Estes & John Stewart of Zazu and Black Pig Meat Co

Daniel Kedan of Peter Lowell’s

All brought to them with the extraordinary maitre’d stylings of Nick Peyton from the two Michelin-star, Cyrus

But, they weren’t finished yet!  Guests continued to be spoiled with scrumptious desserts from Patricia Tan of the Michelin-star Farmhouse Inn.

The evening was full of generously donated auction items and at last count, we reportedly raised over $120,000 for this fantastic school!  Thank you to all that contributed – from the volunteers to the donors to the guests!!  Enjoy the images!

A Blissful Escape

Honestly, it was amazingly hard to focus on my job while at Bellies N Bloom!  The owner, Leslie, has created an environment that makes you relax as soon as you walk in.  From the sprinkled rose petals to the delicate aromatherapy to the soft warm light.  She’s thought of everything and all I wanted to do was crawl onto her massage table and melt into it.  Luckily, her studio is so cute that I was also really inspired –  we turned on some tunes and I got to work.   While I had a great time, I think our model had the best job at this shoot ;)

The Most Versatile Toy Got Even Better

…and I got to photograph it!!  Sarah’s Silks is a collection of toys that inspire imagination and play like no other.  I love them, my kids love them, my clients kids love them and on and on and on.  I was so excited when Sarah contacting me about photographing the new toy in the Silks collection ~ the Pocket Play Silk (coming soon!).  They’re wonderful and here are some super cute kiddos showing you how much fun you can have with them.  We could only get them back from the kids because Sarah, so thoughtfully, had a gift bag of silky goodies for our perfect models!  Thank you, Sarah and the lovely families that shared their little ones with us…hope you had nothing but fun!  Enjoy!

A Vintage School Yard for Cupcake’s Trendy Tots!

I absolutely LOVE working with Cupcake | children & maternity!  The boutique is full of unique, quality, fun clothes that can actually stand up to a kiddo’s (and a washing machine’s…ever notice how the cheapies from you know who go crazy crooked after a wash or two?) wear and tear.  Lately, I’m noticing a wonderful trend…we’re all getting a little pickier about who gets our dollar and how many of them they get.  I’m sick of buying horribly made products at super cheap prices, only to have to re-buy them because they fall apart immediately.  I’m putting a lot more of my hard earned dough into “investment pieces”…for me and my kids.  It actually ends up being a lot cheaper (and cuter) in the end.  Especially if you go for Cupcake’s Tea line…so versatile and affordable…LOVE it!

In the Fall, we did a “Back to School” shoot to showcase the fall styles and local kids.  It was awesome!!!  We had hundreds of submissions to our casting call but we could only select 20 to model the designs.  What a day!  We were fortunate enough to secure a private location that was perfect.  There’s a vintage schoolhouse hidden in west county and they let us use their play yard for the shoot.  The kids had a blast!!!  All they had to do was wear super cute clothes and play on toys that hadn’t been played on in probably 50 years (yes, I did a safety check..and I really think we need to bring those things back…the plastic safe stuff is just no fun ;) )

Enjoy the images and way-too-cute models!  Stay tuned for the Spring Casting Call (Jenny’s already got some super creative theme up her sleeve!)
